I'm using HDClone 4 Free version to attempt to clone a hard drive with many bad and/or corrupted sectors, to try avoiding having to re-install everything on the new hard drive. I'm currently at 76%, current sector: 475,246,592 and 539,286 read errors! YIKES! It's still pushing through, the program is not frozen, and I'm positive it's being slow and having so many read errors because it's to the portion of the hard drive that is all f***ed up. I have a couple questions: will the bad sectors be transferred, and therefore make the new hard drive run terribly as well? Will there be problems with that many read errors? And, if so, what would be the repercussions if I stop the clone now and try to use the information cloned so far to set up the new drive? Thanks!

The read errors won't be transferred to the new disk, so it will not appear to have these defective sectors?

There might be some problems with defective sectors, but only if these are covering data you need. Since you're using the Free Edition, the entire disk's contents are copied, this includes also free space. Chances are that the defective sectors are in the bad blocks list of the file system and therefore they don't matter at all.

You can run chkdsk after the cloning process to check the integrity of the copied system.

If the copying is very slow at this point and from this point on it counts the data sectors at the same speed as the read errors, then it's probably best to abort copying. HDClone will question if you want to delete the copy. Say "No" to this question, otherwise the first sector will be nulled making the copy useless.
