HDClone 4 Partition and/or Boot Problems

Post by kp » Mon Dec 27, 2010 6:36 am

Running Windows XP SP3, P4 1.8GHz. Booting HD Clone 4 from a CD. I'm trying to clone a 120GB Seagate with three logical drives (C-60GB,D-30GB,E-30GB) to a 500GB Hitachi while increasing the size of each partition (150,150,200). After cloning, I remove the source drive, set the cloned drive to master, and can boot only as far as safe mode. Trying regular Windows flashes a blue screen too quick to read before saying Windows has a problem. I've tried the automatic adjustments at the end and I've tried manual adjustments with deselecting signature and/or CHS adjustments. When I reconnect the cloned drive as a slave, I cannot access anything on the new drive, even though I could just earlier partially boot from it. In disk manager, it does not even show that they have the NTFS file system, this column is blank, but they are healthy and active.
What can I try next? Each copy is taking roughly 1.5hrs so I would like to get this working with as few more attempts as possible.

Does the same happen if you clone only, and don't resize?

You can do the same also with the windows version of it, and after the cloning immediately see if on the destination partitions there is valid data or not. After that, shut the system down, unplug the original disk and boot with the copied.
