- is there a solution to this one yet?

Post by noining » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:59 pm

Hi Miray and forum.

I am trying to install from a image to disk.

I have made a clone of a Windows XP from my computer to a external hard drive. There it ended up in the HDClone Images folder. I then moved that folder onto the root directory of a FAT32 external USB drive. Booted HDClone 3.9 from a USB FAT16 Drive and everything seems to be working - my FAT32 drive is recognized, but i get .

I have made sure that my HDClone Images folder is in the root directory!
and that my FAT32 drive passes the speedtest. The Cloning of the XP went without any errors!

What to do?

Thank you

Please use the newest version of HDClone (3.9.4, which you get automatically when downloading the Basic, Standard or Professional Edition). The Free Edition can be downloaded at http://www.miray.de/public/download/preview/hdclone.3.9.4.fe.en.zip

If the problem persists, insert an USB flash drive into the computer, press Ctrl+Alt+F8 to open a console and enter

savelog.en

in the command line. Then select the flash drive and hit enter, this will store the file on the flash drive. You can send this file to us, so we can find out why the image is not found.

If you start HDClone with Windows, do you see the image there? or is it also not visible?

I can't seem to find 3.9.5 edition of HD clone on your site. Please direct me to the correct download page.

If you have a license, you can download it already. The free edition of HDClone 3.9.5 is also available on http://www.miray.de/public/download/hdclone.3.9.5.fe.en.zip

In the first post, you (?) mention "I then moved that folder onto the root directory of a FAT32 external USB drive".

HDClone only looks in the folder "HDClone Images" for the image, not in any other folder.

I boot from a Flash Drive and create a Image File on the second Partion from the HDD. After than, i copy the file on the Flash Drive with the original Folder " HDClone Images\test.img". When i booting at the next Time with Flash Drive, there a "NO Images found on the medium". When i booting with Windows and start HDClone, he find the Images on the Flash Drive.

It's only a wild guess, but try entering the directory HDClone Images\test.img.

There you'll find a file test.img, a file hdclone.ico, desktop.ini and some files named xxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxx.1 etc (with xxxxxxxx being a 8-digit hexadecimal number).

Try renaming the file test.img in this directory to something longer than 11 characters, like testimage.img (it's crucial you use lowercase letters for this).

Can HDClone find the image now?
