9.1.1 self booting linux screen resolution

Post by RIA GmbH » Wed Sep 11, 2019 4:16 pm

Up to version 9.0.15a the HDclone self booting Linux always recognized the correct native screen resolution of the computers on which it was started, since version 9.1.1 HDClone suddenly switches back to a resolution of 640x480 at the actual program start and this although the correct resolution was used during the first boot screens.
So version 9.1.1 is practically unusable for me.

The behavior was introduced because various systems have problems switching to the Nvidia or Radeon driver – not every one, as it worked on your system previously.

Currently, we try to get a 1024x768 resolution, if that fails we use what the BIOS/UEFI provides. We’ll make this behavior switchable in upcoming service releases.

At the moment, you might have more luck if you try booting in UEFI mode (if available), then the resolution set in UEFI mode will be used without change.

You can upload here the Linux log file found on the USB key in \Symobi\Logs (or create a support case), so we can analyze how the 640x480 mode is selected.

As I just tested the new Version 9.1.1.c which showed the same problem i can upload th Log file now.
UEFI mode did not help anything.

Download the newest version 9.1.2a, and download the attached file bootenv.modeset.usr

Then, create a new boot medium, and selet "add boot configuration". Now add the bootenv.modeset.usr file as boot configuration.

This way, when booting the Linux version, the previous behavior of the graphics display will be restored.

I tried it, but unfortunately, it didn't work.
With a resolution of 640*480 the program is absolutely unusable. However, I am dependent on the Linux environment to back up to a file server and restore from there.
Therefore I will have to return to the last working version 9.0.15a.
Here is a new logfile from the last of several tries today.
