HDClone question - Write errors

Post by PeterW » Sun Sep 13, 2009 3:15 pm

Hello...I have HDC Professional v3.7.5. I am attempting to copy a Western Digital drive (WD5000AVVS) to an identical new drive. The new drive experiences "write errors."
I have tried drive -> drive, partition -> partition, partition -> drive with various levels of write errors.

What causes "write errors" and how can I overcome this to obtain a good copy for back up purposes? Thank you...

This depends on the version you use and the way the target device is connected.

Is it with HDClone for Windows, or the self-booting version?

Is the target device connected via SATA, IDE or USB?

The different modes (drive->drive, partition->partition etc.) do not make any difference when it comes to write errors, as they access the device in exactly the same way.
