Windows XP in its activation process is only valid if the system has not changed too much. Changing from an 80GB HDD to a 200GB apparently is too big a change to get unnoticed, so the activation process has to be repeated.

The activation process should be straightforward, either over the internet or via telephone, where - once you press 'Yes' and start the activation, you'll only have to enter your Windows' License Key, and either via Internet or the Phone Operator returns an activation code for you to enter.

Dear Alex,

My WinXP is original, so isn´t a problem re-activate it but the SO didn´t give opportunitty to do that.

If i part my new hdd in about 2x 100GB, hddclone should copy without this problem?

Btw, HDDClone is a great software and if you want to translate it to portuguese brail, let me know.

Thanks!

Hm, if this works depends probably on how you do it. HDClone copies only entire Hard disks or partitions, so you could copy Windows from your 80 GB disk to the 200GB disk and create another 120GB partition, where I still think Windows will complain and require new registration. What you mean with 2x100GB I'm not quite sure.

I mean.. creating 2 partitions of 100GB e.a. and copy my 80GB full ntfs part to the new 100GB full ntfs part.

Thanks

Since HDClone does not copy files in the filesystem, copying an 80GB to a 100GB partition will make the partition appear 80GB in size, you'd have to resize it later to 100GB. Still, I highly doubt Windows will accept it without activating again, as it probably is the entire disk size which is taken into consideration (apparently).
