Clone and Backup of Hard disks

Copying BAD sectors, 260 hours

Post by Vasile » Tue Dec 13, 2022 3:02 pm

I'm using the HDclone 6 in a very old PC, i'm cloning a disk , the disk has damaged sectors, but hdclone was able to copy files on 4 hours, after that started a "copying bad sectors" with an estimated time of 260 hours, i'm worried that the original disk can die on 260 hours of work, there is a way to stop Hdclone to copying this sectors (probably damaged without any recovery possibility) and jump to the "ADJUST" step after this? there is a key combination? something hidden that can force skipping these sectors?

Just found a way to do that... disconnect the original drive (on sata cable) during this step... connect another EMPTY unformatted drive , and the bad sector copy willl complete in few seconds. (i used a brand new disk of the same model/size of the origin)

That is a good idea! But it won’t work on newer HDClone versions, because it will detect the disk type/serial etc.
But the newer HDClone versions correctly can abort a process and resume it later if needed...
