Bootstick question

Hi all!

I wanted to update from HDClone 6 to 7, but in the upgrade I didn't see the bootstick option. Is that not offered any more? And if not, can I update the bootstick with the download only to version 7? In my world the bootstick has become one of the best tools in my bag of tricks.

EDIT: OK, I should have searched through the forum first. Found this in another post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHtrszugEW4

Another question though. Does the procedure in the YouTube video make a stick that doesn't require the license key entry like the bootstick I purchased directly from Miray? Or am I required to enter the license upon boot each time?

Hello Scott,

Thank you for your inquiry.

If you are updating an HDClone Professional Edition Portable, which comes with a Miray USB token, then you are still able to use this USB token for activating your HDClone license after the update.

With the HDClone Boot setup you are able to create a self booting USB drive with other USB drives, too. Though, this has no affect on the license conditions. Therefore it is necessary to use the delivered Miray USB token for activating HDClone on arbitrary systems - provided you are using a Professional Edition Portable (Service Technician License):

For a Workplace License it is necessary to permanently active HDClone on the required system once. If you download HDClone with your license key at https://www.nanoways.com/esd/ one more time and use this newly generated HDClone software package for creating a self booting medium, you can start HDClone on the permanently activated system without the requirement of any further activations.

Should you have further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
Adrian Decker
