Cloning Windows XP Pro

Post by greatjubee » Fri Feb 10, 2012 9:33 am

Can someone tell me how I would go about cloning my windows XP hard drive with out the windows directory. It seems I got a worm virus and the windows directory is 10+gigs. I need to retain the registry and all the programs associated in the HD.

My desire is to copy the Drive and reload a new copy of XPPRO on the drive.

Thanks for any help.

If you create an image of the C:-Partition with HDClone (the Free Edition can only create images of entire partitions, though), you can later restore that image to an entire disk, and this will contain windows and will be bootable, but will not contain any data partitions.

It will, however, contain all the data that was stored on the C:-Partition. So if you don't have a separate Data partition, you'll also have your entire data.
