I bought hd clone 4 basic because I often need to downsize my drive. However, I cant seem to find the right options to get windows to boot. I choose automatically make adjustments when I start the clone and also when I finish the clone. But when i try to boot up the cloned drive, Windows is caught in a continual reboot. I am new to this software and any help would be appreciated.

In theory, if you select "Copy Disk" and use automatic resizing and at the end automatic adjustment, the copied disc should boot in the same computer just fine.
If it boots in a different computer has to do with the hardware compatibility.
If it continually reboots, can you check with the original Windows installation if the created clone has a consistent file system? Simply plug in the drive (as you did when you created the clone) and run chkdsk on it. If it doesn't bring any errors, then it's probably a different setting that is causing the trouble.
There's a tool called 'sysprep', which is included in the Windows Vista and Windows 7 installation CD, for Windows XP you need to download it from the Microsoft homepage. It will set up your current installation (prior to cloning) in such a manner that it can easily be cloned and copied.

ty for the sysprep info. I have tried that out and its pretty neat, but it still does not help me in my downsizing. I recently put a new xp build on a 320 gig hd with sysprep included. I tried to copy the image on a 80 gig hd using HD CLone 4. When the pc boots up, it does a check disk and repairs a bunch of files. Then it states that there are several bad images such as winlogon.exe etc etc. I repair one, theres another behind it that needs repaired. I might as well spend 4 hours installing each program manually. I am severely disappointed in HD CLone 4 performance for downsizing:(

Have you already tried downloading the newest version of HDClone, 4.0.3? It might do a bit of a better job at the downsizing, especially if the differences in the disk sizes is only marginal.
