I have a laptop who's 60gig hard is now too small so I bought a 500gig connected to the laptop via USB and used the free HDclone 3.9 to do a disc to disc clone which went ok and took 2 hrs to complete. Ater the program had finished I shut the laptop down and swapped the hard drives but when I tried to start I keep getting the message about a broken link. but on swapping the hard drives it starts OK, so I reformatted the 500gig drive and did another clone but once again it won't start with the new hard drive. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong wrong

Make sure at the end to select automatic adjustments.
If this doesn't help, try running the stand-alone-version of HDClone, and this time at the end select 'Manual adjustments', leave all settings are they are but deselect 'change disc signature'.

I read this after trying to clone my drive, tried it and my result was now, neither drive will boot. My solution; new full copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. Solved.
