I have a Hitachi Travel Star 4K80 60GB hard drive that I wish to clone to another identical drive of the same size.

Will I be able to use the free edition of HD Clone to do this or will the free edition only work if you?re copying to a larger disc?

If the Free Edition isn?t up to the task, which versions could do this task best?

The Free Edition can only clone an existing installation to a larger drive (i.e. if you migrate your system from an old small disk to a newer larger disk). The Free Edition will also resize the installation to the target disk's full capacity.

If you want to make an exact clone, e.g. for backup use, you'll need at least the Basic Edition. There you can also access single partitions etc. and use the safe rescue mode, which helps if the source drive has read errors to limit the damage done to the drive during the cloning process.
