HDClone Standard destination drive specify location?

Hi All,

I have just purchased HD Clone to back up my sons HD in case he manages to break it (software wise). Now the question:

Am I correct that all and ANY data that exists anywhere on the destination external Hard drive will be lost when I use HDClone to copy over (Ghost/Clone) all of my internal Hard Drive to it even if there is more than enough free space to accommodate the internal data on the external drive?

If the answer is "yes" then why can I not define a destination folder on the external hard drive and not just the actual drive itself to protect the existing external drives data or can I (and if yes how?) If I cannot I guess there is a technical reason?

Many thanks for any and all replies.

Yes, it is correct. Copying one hard disk to another deletes all the data which was on the destination drive. If e.g. the destination drive is 80GB and the source drive is 40GB, the first 40GB of the destination drive will be overwritten. You can create two partitions on the destination drives and copy the data to one of the two partitions (if they're big enough). With the newer version you can even specify from which sector you want to start, but still this does not enable you to save the data into a destination folder. Look for this functionality to come with a later version of HDClone, but a release date in not yet foreseeable.

I recently purchased your product, but have been unable to create a CD
that is bootable. The "5002" error is constantly displayed. I have
tried two different computers and different media, ie. CD-RW, CD-R,
etc. as suggested in the pdf file.

When attempting to reach your web site I receive the following:

"Error 404 - Not found

Die angegebene Seite konnte nicht gefunden werden."

Please send me a bootable CD so that I may use this product.

Many thanks for any help you can provide

Did you create your bootable floppy under Windows Vista with the Install program? There is a known issue with the installer, which will be resolved soon. In the meantime you can use the file hdclone.iso also in the package and use a CD recording program of your choice to burn this image (as CD-Image) on the disk.
