I am using HDClone to try and copy from one disk to another (actually from one partition to another partition). I am using Vista Home Premium on a laptop with a 250GB drive. I am upgrading to a 500GB drive. I have created two partitions on the new drive to match the partitioning of the original drive. I have been successful in copying over the smaller HP Recovery partition. All attempts to copy the main/boot partition (about 220GB) have failed with the copy being either a small (equal to the original size partition of 220GB) or a RAW partition using the available originally NTFS formatted size. The later format is obviously totally useless. What approach should I take in finalizing the copy process with this disk configuration?

I'd suggest copying partition->partition, and immediately after the start, HDClone asks if the target should be resized to fit the entire partition. Saying 'yes' to this question should do the trick. If the resulting image appears to be RAW, then there's something with the resizing gone wrong. In this case, please contact our support (http://www.miray.de/support) for an individual solution to your problem.

I am upgrading my Old tower for a new faster (used) one and I have cloned and expanded my old hard drive from 15 gigs with XP on to a 60 gig HD. The cloned 60gig will work on the old slow tower but when I place the hard drive into the newer pentium 4 tower it tries to start in safe mode but then goes to the blue stopped because of fatal error screen. What do I need to do to get this up and running on my faster tower?

The problem is (as always) the drivers. Your new P4 computer needs a different Mainboard chipset driver, graphics drivers etc.

You can remedy this by using the Restore function of the XP cd. With the new disc installed, boot from the Windows XP installation CD, and on the first screen press 'R' to repair the windows installation. This replaces the drivers on the new system with the correct ones, which then should make you able to work on the new computer again.
