Boot on USB system

Post by JCLemay » Mon Sep 10, 2018 5:02 pm

Hi there,

Using HDC 8.2 SE, I would like to know and understand why I am not able to boot on an external USB SSD hard drive on which I "restored" a system/disk image with HDC.

The very same image made with HDC works/boots perfectly on a internal hard drive, but why I can't seem to be able to boot with an external USB hard drive? It starts to boot, then after 30s fails and tells me INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

I'm on Windows 10 family up to date, Asus vivobook S410 laptop, on i7.

Any advice, adjustments or tips I should use with HDC? Or any settings to change in the Bios (I already tried everything I can I believe)?

Thanks!

Hello JCLemay,

USB boot isn't supported by Windows by default. However, from the HDClone Advanced Edition you can activate USB boot for Windows 8.1 or newer with the respective HDClone copy option (with USB root ports also for Windows 7 and 8):

If you are interested in upgrading to the Advanced Edition you may use our Update and Upgrade Configurator by entering your license key:
