After 3 years, Miray Software publishes a new version of the secure deletion software tool HDShredder 4. It now also runs on Windows 8, Server 2012 and self-boots on modern UEFI systems. Completely new and available from the HDShedder 4 Professional Edition is the command line interface (CLI) for automation and integration into existing scripted sequences. HDShredder 4 now also erases USB 3 media. A deletion report can be stored on network drives in Windows. HDShredder 4 will be released on May 15, 2013.
HDShredder 4 is a universal and intuitive program for secure deletion of hard disks and other mass storage media. HDShredder 4 can be run self-booting or directly in Windows. HDShedder 4 supports 15 international security standards (Standard Edition), is intended for use on servers and by service providers (Professional Edition), and can securely delete up to 16 hard drives at once (Enterprise Edition). For home users the Free Edition offers a free of charge solution to securely delete the hard disk and protect their data, prior to selling them or passing them on. Conventional data recovery software will not be able to recover this data any more.
HDShredder 4 Professional Edition contains completely revised driver stacks (SATA and USB). For quick deletion of external storage media, HDShredder 4 now supports the USB 3 standard. External hard drives can be deleted at more than 100 MB/sec. Support for USB input devices has been updated and improved.
HDShredder 4 Professional Edition also includes its own command line version (CLI) for Windows. HDShredder 4 can then be run as a normal command line program, fully automatic via batch call, from the Task Scheduler, or using a program link. The deletion mode and method as well as other optional settings are passed as calling parameters. HDShredder 4 can be run fully automated without any user input.
The HDShredder 4 Professional Edition can also store a deletion report containing all relevant information of the deletion process. For example, the selected deletion method, the deletion time or the number of deleted sectors. With HDShredder 4, the deletion report can be stored on Windows network drives.
HDShredder 4 will be published on May 15, 2013 in the editions; “Free”, “Standard”, “Professional” and “Enterprise”. The prices for the retail versions are between 19.90 EUR and 799 EUR. HDShredder 4 Free Edition will be available as of May 15, 2013 for a free download at www.miray.de/download/sat.hdshredder.html.
