| | | Introduction
There are some points to mention concerning the demo applications on this page.
First of all Sphere SP 2.0 is a low level product, that allows application developers
to create a complete own application based upon it.
So, please understand that the demo applications provided on this page are
pure technology demonstrations.
Their intention is to show you how much you can do with Sphere SP 2.0
with only little resources.
They are usually no applications valuable for your daily use, althogh we hope that
some are funny or inspiring for you.
Testing Equipment
The used resources are another important point to mention. For comparing the resources
used of a demo application running on your system to the values given here you have
to have the differences in mind.
Our standard testing equipment for the demo applications on this page is:
- ACC Maple DX4-100 Processor
- 2 MB RAM
- 2 RS232 ports
- 1 IEEE 1284 parallel port
- PS/2 keyboard and mouse
- standard VGA
Memory Usage
Especially memory usage may be significantly higher on your system if you have more
than 2 MB of RAM installed. This additional memory usage results from memory management.
Fortunately, you can calculate the amount of used memory if you had only 2 MB.
Sphere SP 2.0 needs around 7 KB for each MB to manage. So take the amount of memory
on your system in MB and subtract 2. Then multiply the result with 7 and you get
the memory in KB that is needed on your system to manage the memory above 2 MB.
If you subtract this value from the used memory value displayed by the demo application,
you have about the value (in KB) this application would need on a 2 MB system.
Too difficult? OK, here's a formula:
u = the amount of used memory (in KB) displayed by the application
m = size of RAM on your computer in MB
s = memory used (in KB) on a machine with 2 MB RAM
s = u - [(m - 2) * 7]
The demo applications for this page are currently in work and will appear soon.
We apologize for the delay. |
