Description:
The Fly application is one of the first applications for µnOS at all.
It consists of one window wherein some lines move one behind another, changing
direction and size and so continuously changing the form of the figure they build.
This application is primarily thought to demonstrate the multitasking abilities of the
system on the one hand and the clipping abilities of the window server on the other hand.
To get the multitasking abilities of the system demonstrated, just open a lot of Fly windows.
Then you can watch, that all of them work continuosly, without noticeable interruption.
The clipping abilities also can be seen when several Fly windows are opened.
The windows than just have to be shifted together in a way that creates a lot of
overlapping between the windows.
The flying lines in the windows are clipped very often then.
And watch in a CPU window how little CPU power is consumed though many
Fly windows are opened.
Additionally, you can see the abilities of our graphic driver, especially its speed, at
the example of a fly window:
Move the mouse cursor right over such a moving figure in a Fly window.
You will notice that the cursor neither vanishes nor is it blinking when the Fly figure
is moving under the cursor.
So, the cursor just behaves like a real hardware generated cursor, although the graphic
driver currently used by µnOS is a pure software driver supporting VGA standard graphic
only and not using any hardware acceleration.
Operating:
The Fly application is a non-interactive displaying application and can therefore only be
started and killed.
